Dutchess County Elections
Our County Legislator, Chris Drago, is up for re-election this year and deserves our support for the really impressive job he has done in his first term for the people of northeastern Dutchess.
The same can be said for our County Comptroller, Dan Aymar-Blair, who is running for a full term this year after completing the final year of Robin Lois’ term that was vacated when she went to work for the NY State comptrollers office.
Running to unseat a current County Judge who is possibly the most “overturned” judge in the state, we have Kara Gerry, a highly qualified and experienced person intent on bringing reasoned and equal justice back to the County Court. I haven’t known her very long, but I’m impressed.
Lawn signs and Volunteers
We just got a fresh batch of lawn signs for our town candidates and we’d love to see some more in your front lawns! We have some signs for the county candidates as well. To request signs, email: frehling@frontiernet.net
If you are interested in volunteering for your town candidates, just let me know.
Beware the “off-year” turnout problem
Several of these races will be hotly contested and, unfortunately, Democrats tend to have low turnouts for the so-called “off-year elections. It’s a well known and documented thing. I’ve been doing this for 15 years or so and I’m amazed at how significant the drop off is. So please make plans to vote, either in person or by absentee ballot. Every vote matters. A few years ago the Democratic candidate lost the Supervisor race in Pine Plains by a single vote.
‘Vote Row ‘A’ All The Way!” This means to vote for all the races. The Dems line on the ballot is the top row, Row A. The Judicial races matter as do the Clerk, Comptroller and County Legislator.
